Taraji P. Henson
Joining fellow actor Anthony Anderson at Howard University, Taraji P. Henson was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from her alma mater. Along with receiving her honorary doctorate, Henson delivered a speech to the class of 2022, where she encouraged them to believe and care for themselves. Part of Henson's speech stated: Find your bigger picture, bet on yourself and let your peers' success be your fuel, not your distraction. Henson originally graduated from Howard University in 1995 with her one-year-old son, Marcell Johnson, in her arms.

Colin Kaepernick
Colin Kaepernick may be best known as a social rights activist and an NFL quarterback, but he's about to add a third title to his growing resume: doctor. Joining Morgan State University's 2022 class, Colin Kaepernick was celebrated with an honorary doctorate in Humane Letters for his work in what MSU President David K. Wilson described as the progression of the Black narrative and pursuit of excellence. Though Kaepernick could not attend the commencement ceremony in person, he submitted a video speech where he encouraged the Class of 2022 to elevate their communities and continue their positivity and activism.
