Sydney Mwaimba and Paul Perkins:
Mobility for All
O
wners of "ORION Electronics Company," Sydney Mwaimba and Paul Perkins, are using their knowledge of tech and electronics to make the world of travel more accessible. "The millions of essential Americans who make less than $30k a year are the most in need of micro-mobility options," Paul Perkins stated in a press release, "but are being left out and overlooked by existing rideshare companies who are typically not readily accessible in low-income neighborhoods and too expensive for students and young professionals." To combat this issue, the team is launching the "Future of Urban Travel," a smart E-bike subscription rideshare app meant to make transportation accessible and affordable for all. The hope is that the implementation of the service will lessen the number of missed opportunities for work and education, ultimately resulting in a decrease of poverty in the 21st century. The bikes are expected to cost anywhere from $50-$60 for a year and will run completely electronically. Along with their bikes, Mwaimba and Perkins work with co-founders, Colin Curry and Pius Gadosey, on creating an array of innovative, affordable and eco-friendly products to bring sustainable technology to underrepresented communities.
