s we always celebrate Black History and Heritage, we here at Black EOE Journal are proud and honored to feature our cover story, Madam Vice President Kamala Harris (page 12). Vice President-elect Harris shattered stereotypes on her way to the White House: first African-American, first South Asian-American, and first woman attorney general of California. First Indian-American woman and second Black woman elected to the U.S. Senate. And now-the first woman and woman of color as vice president. What I want women and girls to know is this: You are powerful and your voice matters, Harris says. And she is living proof. As Harris said in sheer excitement to President-elect Joe Biden, We did it! In honor of Black History, we have featured amazing individuals-the first Black woman to run a cable news network, the first Black woman chief of patrol for the NYPD, the first Black astronaut to live on the space station, three Black women making history at the White House, and an African- American woman being the key scientist behind the COVID-19 vaccine. But that's not all of it. This special issue is full of making history-you just have to read it all to find out. We couldnt be happier for these groundbreakers, who are showing that-bottom line-it's all about inclusion. We couldn't be happier to see Black History and Heritage gain more and more recognition each year. The world always needs more inclusion, and the more inclusion we practice, the more firsts we'll see.
